The last chapter of “I can decide what I believe or not, it’s my choice, I am free and I can have my own opinion about everything without any exception” is about arrogance.

Someone who knows about a specific topic and who shares that knowledge or even explains why they are wrong to those who spread false information is defined as being arrogant.

Oversimplifying things is not an alternative to hard work, deep knowledge and understanding of complex topics.

Being competent is different than being arrogant.

And yes, it’s better when competence is coupled with humility.

Standing against something, it’s also standing for something else.

And when we stand for, we build something that we hope will be better than the status quo.

When we stand against, most of the time it leads us “not to do something”, to refuse something.

Refusing something can change the world only if many are following and start a movement.

Doing something can be impactful even if we are the only one to take action.

Standing for or standing against are not symmetrical postures.

Assumptions are…assumptions.

Hypothesis.

A starting point.

We need them.

However, to make them really useful, we have to solve them.

Solving assumptions is confirming, infirming and transforming them.

Then assumptions become facts and knowledge.

And facts and knowledge are solid basis we can build on.

Converting assumptions into knowledge, this is a big part of the innovators job.

What complicates our work is that an important part of what we consider as to be facts and knowledge are in reality assumptions.

Helping others realizing this is the very first and important part of the job.

There is no ideal recipe, however this one works pretty well.

STEP 1 — Define your vision; the change you want to make happen

STEP 2 — Start with some simple actions and get things done

STEP 3 — Show your work to get feedback & traction

Simple, isn’t it ?

At least on the paper.

However, the real challenge here is execution as it requires:

• laser focus
• courage
• passion
• desire to learn & unlearn
• trust in your skills, capabilities, knowledge and legitimacy
• not letting you being distracted
• hard work

Because only few people are able to go from idea to action, those who do are the real game changers.

At first sight, it seems that they do.

After all, they are asking for feedback, arent’ they ?

It’s too easy not to spend energy and time on building something great and putting a satisfaction kiosk somewhere to show people that their opinion matters. Because it’s a lie.

If their opinion really matters, we would spend energy and time on building the best experience for them.

And there would be no need to request feedback through such digital devices.

When we build something that makes sense and that people really want, it has a positive impact on the whole system and everyone can feel it.
