Setting the Framework

The level of creativity and inventiveness of the ideas we get are directly impacted by the framework we build.

A clear framework of expectations will allow the right level of ideas to emerge.

Not setting a framework does not mean there is none; it means that it’s the standard one that applies. And in case it’s quite conservative, the ideas we will get will also be.

How much do we want to challenge the status quo ?

Will we build in the continuity (continuous) ?

Will we improve the status quo (incremental)?

Or will we transform it (disruptive) ?

Setting a new framework is a global act of transformation. It does not only mean providing an A4 description of what we are looking for. This is for sure important, however there is another message to communicate in case we expect a real change in the way we have done things until now. We have to help the team envision what success could look like (eg. sharing similar success stories from other markets or industries highlighting the same change of mindset and the tangible outcomes they enabled)

The change of mindset cannnot be described in the project definition; it has to be communicated from human to human with passion and clarity.
